Move money
Split payments, move funds between merchants and pay out to bank accounts.
When your merchants take payments through Datman, the funds don't go straight to their bank account. They are held in the merchant's Datman account until they are paid out. While the funds are held, you decide how they are shared between merchants and when they reach the bank. This is the fourth step of your integration, after you take payments and change them, and before you report and reconcile.
With Datman, you can:
- Split payments: send part of a payment to another merchant, for example a delivery fee to a delivery partner.
- Transfer funds: move funds from one merchant's balance to another merchant's balance.
- Pay out funds: pay out a merchant's balance to their verified bank account on a payout schedule.
Flow of funds
When you use Datman to move money, the flow of funds is as follows:
-
A shopper pays one of your merchants, for example Example Pizza Ltd. Datman processes the payment through one of multiple acquirers.
-
If the payment has split instructions, Datman books each part of the payment to the merchant that you specified. The rest of the payment is booked to the merchant that took it.
-
The funds are held in each merchant's Datman account until they are paid out. Settlement is usually two business days after the payment (T+2). Some merchants get T+1 or T+4, depending on what is agreed when the merchant is onboarded.
-
When needed, you can transfer funds from one merchant's balance to another merchant's balance.
-
Datman pays out the merchant's funds to their verified bank account, according to the merchant's payout schedule.
Datman deducts the fees for a payment at the time of the transaction. When a merchant is on a blended rate, the fees are deducted from the merchant's Datman account.
